Okahirongo Elephant Lodge, in Purros Conservancy, is a no risk malaria destination and it can be reached by 4×4 vehicles or a 2 hour and fifteen minutes flight from Windhoek.
We share our place with both the Himba and Herero people.
The lodge offers a highly sophisticated desert experience for a maximum of 18 guests. Accommodation comprise:
7 luxury double cottages (50 sqmt) with en-suite large bathroom with bat tub overlooking the magnificent surroundings, two decorated basins, a choice of indoor or open air shower, and a spacious private gazebo with a queen size sun bed, where to relax after an intense desert safari day.
One Presidential Suite (160 sqmt) with 2 double bedrooms, external verandas, gazeboes and a private lounge.
The cottages are decorated in a rich and sensuous fusion of ochre, honey and sand colors, but each one with its own unique style and atmosphere: ethnic and local sculptured furnishing bring the excitement and romance of Africa, to life.
The lodge has a spectacular wraparound view and you can enjoy your stay by either lazing around the swimming pool, reading a book in the cool comfort of the library, or relaxing in one of the two open air lounges or having a body massage.
The menu changes daily, a delicious fusion of Italian and African cuisine.
At the nights the dinners are served by candlelight in one of the two dining rooms or in the fire-lit traditional Namibian “boma” under the stars.
Most of the fresh produce served come from our organic garden.
The Kaokoland is the only place in the world where the elephants, black rhinos, giraffes, lions and other African animals live in a desert area.
During the stay at the Okahirongo Elephant Lodge, the guests can explore a true untouched wilderness area. The activities include: desert adapted elephants tracking, twice daily game and scenic drives in open 4×4 vehicles, night drives, morning desert walk, visit to local Himba village.
