Namibia Classic
Highlights: The coastal of Swakopmund, the attractions of scenic Damaraland and the wildlife of the Etosha National Park.

Day 1 &Day 2
Swakopmund
Travel to the coastal town of Swakopmund via Khomas Hochland. Mountains, Gamsberg Pass, Ganab and Hotsas which are situated in the Northern Section of the Namib Naukluft Park. Prior to arrival in Swakopmund you can visit the Moon Valley, an unusual view overlooking the landscape formed by the valleys of the Swakop River, one of the broadest and longest of the country’s ephemeral water courses. Visit Namibia’s most celebrated plant, the ancient Welwitschia mirabilis, found on the vast gravel plains. Full day at leisure to explore the historic town of Swakopmund. Swakopmund has a multitude of guided and adventure activities on offer. Hansa Hotel

Day 3
Damaraland

Departing Swakopmund you travel northwards past a number of shallow ponds used for salt production and farming oysters. Enroute a great variety of lichens will be found, of which Namibia has some of the rarest and most interesting species in the world. Visit Cape Cross Seal Reserve, which boats over 100 000 Cape Fur Seals, then inland across the flat, barren plain to the abandoned tin mine of Uis and past the Brandberg Mountain ( Namibia’s highest peak). This is Damaraland with its rugged landscapes, sparse population and great mountains.

Day 4
Outjo Region

Twyfelfontein, meaning ‘doubtful Spring’ has been occupied for thousands of years, with its spring attraction herds of game making this an excellent base for early hunters. The slopes of the area are strewn with boulders; all dotted with thousands of engravings and some ancient paintings, a virtual open-air museum. Geological features in the area include the Organ Pipes, which are angular columns of dolerite, forming part of Namibia’s rich natural history. A visit will also be made to the Petrified Forest. Proceed via Khorixas to the town of Outjo.

Day 5
Etosha National Game Park

Enter the world famous Etosha National Park, where a full day game driving is enjoyed. The game and birds found here are typical of the savannaj plains of Southern Africa, but include several species endemic to the western side of the continent, adjacent to the Namib desert. Herbivores such as zebra, elephant, giraffe, eland, sprinkbok, kudu, and steenbok abound. Among the rarer species, black and white rino are sometimes seen. Black faced Impala are restricted to Namibia and southern Angola, the Damara dik-dik, the Parks smallest antelope is also endemic.Hundreds of bird species have been recorded, including many migrants during the summer period. Larger felines are also found, such as lion, leopard, cheetah and caracal, with hyenas, cape fox and black backed jackal seen during the early mornings and late evenings. Exit the Natinal Park and proceed to a private Lodge situated outside of the National Park. Mokuti Lodge

Etosha National Game Park.

Return to the National Park for morning and afternoon game viewing.

Day 7
Return to Windhoek

In the early morning departure to the town of Tsumeb which is dominated by the central mine shaft, mining a rich ore pipe for copper, zinc, lead silver and a variety of unusual crystals for which is Tsumeb world famous. You will have the opportunity to visit the Tsumeb Museum today as well, to view the armaments removed from the Otjikoto Lake. Thereafter, continuing south through the garden town of Otjiwarongo, originally a railway staging post between Tsumeb and Swakopmund. Okahandjy is the administrative centre for the Herero People and where the Kavango woodcarvers ply their trade at a large open air craft market on the outskirts of the town. You will return to Windhoek in the late afternoon. Your tour will end here.
